Can Invisalign Really Not fix Misalignment?

I want to get my teeth strengthened. My niece did that with Invisalign. I was quite impressed with how invisible they were. I went to see my dentist about it but he said that Invisalign doesn’t do well with misalignment and I am better off seeing an orthodontist.  Is that really true?  I am having doubts that he is being honest.

Dear Andie,

Braces versus Invisalign

Braces Versus Invisalign

While I have not examined your bite, I am a bit surprised that your dentist said Invisalign could not fix misaligned teeth. That is the whole purpose of that treatment. Unless your bite is severely complicated, than you shouldn’t have any trouble with having that approved for your smile.

I am not saying this is the case, but it is possible that your dentist  doesn’t offer Invisalign and he was worried that if you went to a dentist who did you might switch to them. But, if you got braces, they don’t do dental work so there is no worry about switching. I would just visit an Invisalign dentist and see if they think that you are a good candidate.

It used to be that Invisalign could only work on the mildest cases. But, it is much more advanced now and can handle all but the most severe cases.

A Secret Benefit to Invisalign

If you have ever wanted to whiten your teeth, the time to do it is during your Invisalign treatment. The clear aligners can double as teeth whitening trays. This means you can straighten and whiten your teeth at the same time, giving you the equivalent of a mini smile makeover for a fraction of the cost.

When you’re done, not only will you have straight teeth, but whiter teeth as well. Teeth whitening takes decades off someone’s appearance.
