How Zoom Whitening Works

To whiten your teeth, you need a bleaching agent that can reach down below the enamel to dissolve the stains trapped in the dentin. For the bleaching agent to dissolve stains effectively, it needs either time and consistent use or light activation. So you could apply peroxide gel (a bleaching agent) to your teeth day after day… or we could use Zoom technology to speed things up! With Zoom whitening, we focus a special light on your teeth to activate the bleaching power and bring you a dramatically whiter smile in a single appointment.

Our Process

Here’s a look at what to expect when you come in for Zoom whitening treatment.

Exam

We’ll first make sure you don’t have any leaky fillings or other issues that would cause sensitivity to the gel. If you’ve already had a recent check-up, we can skip this part.

Prep

Before we apply the peroxide gel, we’ll put a few things into place:

Retractors — to hold your lips back so that your teeth are as exposed as possible
Napkin — to cover your lips and cheeks so they stay clean and dry
Gum Coating — to protect your gums from irritation by the peroxide gel

Then we’ll apply peroxide gel to each tooth. The peroxide gel contains the bleaching power. Once it’s applied, we’ll use light to put the bleaching agent to work!

Whitening

A light is directed at a woman's smile to activate the bleaching agent during a Zoom whitening treatment. The Zoom light is the key to quick whitening. And here at Cameron Dental Studio, we use the latest Zoom technology. To activate the peroxide gel, we’ll direct the light at your teeth and keep it there for just 15-30 minutes. During this time, you can sit back and relax or watch TV. Afterwards, your smile will be shades brighter! And you can always come back for another treatment to reach for a new level of brightness.

Caring For Your Bright Smile

During the first 48 hours following your Zoom whitening treatment, it’s important to take special care of your smile to avoid staining. You may also experience some sensitivity during this time.
