We treat the whole family at Cameron Dental Studio! Our dentists provide general pediatric care and are happy to accommodate children of all ages, as well as those with special needs.
Does My Child Need a Pediatric Dentist?
Pediatric dentists receive special education and training in pediatric dental care. While we are not pediatric specialists, we have training in providing preventative and basic restorative care to children of all ages. This includes exams, cleanings, and any necessary fillings, so your whole family can get their regular check-ups taken care of in one convenient location! And should the appropriate treatment for your child fall outside the scope of our practice, we’ll provide a reference to an excellent pediatric dentist.
At What Age Should My Child First See the Dentist?
The age of 3 years old is perfect for your child’s first dentist visit. In our office, this is super easy for you and fun for your child. Just bring your child along with you to your exam, and we’ll give him or her a positive first experience that will set the stage for a lifetime of successful dental care. Your child will see what it’s like to sit in a dentist chair, enjoy looking at all of our cool gadgets, and go home with a new toothbrush!
What to Expect
Check-Up
We understand children have unique needs and are ready to accommodate them with comforts and compassion. We have music playing and a TV in every room for them to watch whatever helps them feel most comfortable.
During your child’s visit, we’ll clean and examine his or her teeth, taking x-rays as needed. We’ll also apply a fluoride treatment to help prevent cavity formation. Here in Naples, our city water is no longer treated with fluoride, so this treatment is extra important. We may also recommend dental sealants in cavity-prone areas. At the end of your child’s appointment, we’ll let him or her select a prize from our treasure box!
Treatment
To treat small cavities, we use white composite fillings, never amalgam ones. If your child needs a crown, we will refer you to a pediatric dentist who specializes in restorative dental treatment for children.
What If My Child Has Autism Spectrum Disorder?
At Cameron Dental Studio, we have experience treating autistic children. We’ll help your child feel at home here so that he or she can develop and maintain a positive association with dental care and treatment.
